Not your average suburban mom. I’m more your typical, normal, commonplace, everyday, garden-variety suburban mom. With a thesaurus.

The Back Story

The "before".  253 pounds.  Please ignore Brian's awesome face as we are late for a wedding and the seven year old is trying her third attempt at a picture of us.

The back story. It starts with Mama having a lot of it.  Back, that is.  After baby #4, at 5'3" and 253 pounds I decided I wanted to run a 5K.  You can read about my 5K experience here  and here.   I lost 53 pounds by the time I ran my first 5K, and it was the beginning of a beautiful relationship.

My first 5K - the Turkey Trot - 200 pounds.  I was so nervous waiting for the start.  I wore my training stopwatch but forgot to start it.
It took almost 11 more months to lose another 47, enrolling me in the special 100 Pounds Lost Club, which I just made up and does not exist.

Again, sorry for the dark shot.  Eight year old photographer.  153 pounds. (Me, not the eight year old.  Geez, this isn't Maury Povich.)  (Is Maury Povich still on?)

I have lost another 5 along the weigh (did you see what I did there?) and have somehow developed an appreciation for the active life.

My next challenge is a sprint triathlon in July 2012.  I will be swimming, biking, and running a distance nowhere near Ironman distance, but feeling like one all the same.
